the secret to roadtrips

Bagels. We are currently in Connecticut for (Great) Grandpa Carlson's 90th birthday bash. It's getting harder to travel with Nate now that he's more active. He still sleeps in the car, but when he's awake he is so angry being cooped up in the carseat. We were about 30 miles from our destination and he had a meltdown. But luckily there was a Dunkin' Doughnuts nearby (because here in good ol' New England, there's one on every corner) where we got Nate a bagel. This was quite possibly the smartest thing we've done in the last few months and Nate spent the next half-hour smiling and chewing away.

Nate is so very excited about our hotel room, and to be completely honest, so are his parents. We're at one of the places with suites, so there's a separate living and bedroom, complete with kitchenette. Nate's favorite part is the floor to ceiling mirror, but we're heading to the pool in a few minutes, so perhaps his allegiance will change.

Tomorrow begins Fun with Children. We'll be seeing lots of Carlson cousins, both big and small, this weekend and then our friend Julia and her parents will be in Rochester. Assuming our camera holds out, I'm guessing there'll be lots of cute pictures to share. On to the pool!
