giddy up!

We had a big weekend. Yesterday our neighbor had a big truck parked outside his house. We've seen the truck before (he has an occasional job as a mover) but it's usually been a quick, albeit exciting, sighting. This time, though, we decided to look at the truck up close. When we walked out the front door, Nate screamed, "big-a-big-a-big-a-big!!!" We examined the truck up close, which was exhilarating. The wheels were bigger than Nate, which was pretty amusing, and as we made our way around the back of the truck, we saw... a motorcycle! Our other neighbor was out with his Harley, so we stopped by to say hi and see the bike up close. He let Nate sit on it, which was amazing. Then, on our way back to the house we stopped by the big truck again and Nate got to "drive" that too! What an afternoon.

Then this morning we visited with some new Batesie offspring (our friends Ana and Sean and their daughters Maia and Cecily, and Jake and his wife Andrea and their new daughter Zelia), where Nate and Maia had a blast playing in her sandbox. Nate looked like he'd spent a week at the beach when we left. In the afternoon we took a walk over to the park where we found out there was some big neighborhood road race with a few rides, entertainment, and that darned ice cream truck. To top off the weekend, Nate got to ride a horse (well, it was a miniature pony. They had three animals - a horse, a pony, and a miniature pony - and you would ride the one that correlated with your height.) Neigh, neigh!

Then, on our walk back to the house, we saw a guy walking a dog that was bigger than Nate's "horse." No joke!
