mommy's favorite places

Oprah has her favorite things, so why can't I? Over the weekend we went to two great places in Rochester, visiting Highland Park and Springdale Farm. Nate still isn't all that fond of wind, which is somewhat problematic since we live in a pretty windy area. So our park excursion wasn't his favorite thing, but it's definitely one of mine. Thad and I thought it would be nice to bring a blanket and play outside instead of on our living room floor, but Nate decided to whine instead.

Springdale Farm is quite possibly my new favorite place. Not only is it a low-key place to take a stroll and look at livestock, but it is relatively close by and free. Nate greated the farm more enthusiastically than the park, perhaps because we could walk inside barns to escape from that pesky wind. It was nice to show Nate real animals instead of just pointing to them in a book. I was wondering if he'd think a horse is a four inch tall, flat, purple thing.

It looks as though (family)history is repeating itself. The Arborium and Drumlin Farm have been replaced by Highland Park and Springdale Farm. Happy outings!
